Rasta has been selected as one of 300 people joining Al Gore in Melbourne at the “The Climate Project – Asia Pacific Summit” to learn about climate change. Thredbo terrain park guru’s Charles Beckinsale and Sam Towers just called me from the cat giving me a video from the second Thredbo rail comp. Wait, they’re having contests up at Thredbo? And this is the second?! Awesome! Ryan Tiene won this one, Tom Pelley got second (and a bunch of new tricks by the look of it!) and Andy Lloyd got third. Considering we’ve interviewed all of those dudes in the magazine already, I’d say that’s a great thing. Saph Farrell took first for the womens, Laura Williams second and Michaela Davis-Meehan third. Sam and Charles have assured me there’s more video to come next week when they rebuild the park, so show them some love here in the comments section.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get this up – Battle At The Berrics 2 stared a couple of days ago. The battles between Chris Cole and Mike Vallely, and the one between Jamie Thomas and Dennis Busenitz are already up. Head over here to check them out!

Rusty surfer, Josh Kerr has got a video blog happening. The release for the launch of the blog says it will be tracking “Kerr and friends surfing around the planet, see the ups and downs of pro surfing, see behind the scenes and see some amazing free-surfing.” Sounds pretty good to me! Freestyle Media in the UK has suspended operations at their  title, Snowboard UK. The releases that I have seen lay blame on the financial crisis while many commenters in forums are claiming that the UK snowboard scene could never support three UK magazines, two European based English language magazines alongside the US titles. This raises questions about the landscape in Australia where we have a shorter winter and far less access to snow, with three snowboard pay-per-issue magazines plus the American mags and occasionally UK/Euro magazines. What is, every year, one of the best contests has been improved again this year – there will be food and drink vendors, plenty of crowd giveaways plus the always entertaining after party at Kooroora (missing us Jan?).
