This has been going on for a week or more but is pretty crazy… Users of the celeb-popular Sidekick in the U.S. (not sure if Aus users are affected) are in a sticky situation where they can not power down their device otherwise they will lose all their data. The majority of the devices contacts, etc. are stored on Microsoft servers which had all their data destroyed after an upgrade that went wrong (and no one had backed up the servers beforehand). So, if your Sidekick runs out of battery, you’re shit outta luck – have fun rebuilding your contact list. Something this big is crazy and could spell the end of the device which has been losing sales to the likes of the iPhone. Head over here for more info.
