The other night I finally got round to watching ‘Crips and Bloods: Made in America‘ which was directed by Stacy Peralta and lists Baron Davis as a Producer. It’s narrated by Forrest Whittaker and he tells the story of five decades of neglect, mismanagement and poor planning that has led to the rise of gang violence in south L.A. The opening of the film hooks you with the startling statistic that there has been over 15,000 gang related deaths in that area – apparently more than five times the body count of the Northern Ireland conflict. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should make it a priority. Click below the cut to peep the trailer.

I really want to see this, even though it will break my heart in a hundred fucking places.

So heavy… I wonder how in depth they can get with this. I imagine not a lot of people would be too keen to talk about this on camera.
