I got a phone call a few weeks ago from a very motivated surf photographer named Clare Plueckhahn. Her and a bunch of friends are making a surf movie about Phillip Island locals Nikki van Dijk, India Payne and Jess Laing’s first trip to Hawaii for a crack at the North Shore. It’s called First Love: The Film. The trailer is coming soon, but their website is top notch so check it out until then.

So far it seems the film is going well. I got an email from Clare from Hawaii a couple days saying “there is an amazing buzz with the huge swell arriving… A few of the guys in the Eddie keep their jet skis in our yard for some reason. It hasn’t run in 4 years and it is almost defiantly going to run on Monday or Tuesday. We are all already organizing our camera gear and hard drives to higher ground!”.
