Oakley Holbrooks

(Photos by Julius Kellar) The Oakley Holbrook is the latest creation of Jesse and Shaun White. I spotted these on Shaun in Vancouver the other week and aside from the standout styling they also have quite a story to go with the design. First up, the name Holbr0ok comes from a small town in Arizona on Route 66 known for its violent past. The name links to the design inspiration which came from, “the screen heroes from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, the icons who inspired youth with their own brand of defiance.” While I struggle to connect this inspiration with the finished product, that doesn’t change the fact that I like the new twist on a classic shape, the small bolts on the front and the fact that they do come in a few, more conservative, colour-ways. The ones pictured here are the polished black with 24k iridium lens.
These aren’t listed in the Australian store as yet (actually, I believe the pair you see above seem to be the only pair in Australia at the moment), they are due to drop shortly. The retail in the U.S. for around US$120.00 – so they’re likely to be reasonably priced. Peep more at the US Oakley site here.
