Slopestyle Results From Sochi

The first Olympic Slopestyle event seems to have been a massive hit with audiences. In the lead up there was not a lot good to be said about the course and it will be interesting to hear from a few of the riders when they return as to what they really thought about the setup. There was a fair bit of disagreement with some of the judging decisions and the consistency of the scores during the event but I don’t think there was much doubt that Sage Kotsenburg’s JAPAN 16 meant he was a well deserved winner. If the reports are correct, it was a last minute decision to send it and see what happens. He was joined on the podium by Staale Sandbech and Mark McMorris.

In the womens, Torah made a good show and went for the cab-9 but sat down on the way out and was penalised for it. The podium went to Jamie Anderson, Enni Rukajarvi and Jenny Jones. There was a sickening moment when Sarka Pancochova caught her heel on the was in from the first kicker and whipped her head into the snow hard enough to break her helmet. She managed to make her own way down to the finish after the medics took a quick look.

NBC seems to have all the footage pretty well locked down at the minute but hopefully I’ll find some stuff to share soon.
