robbie-walker-and-alice-gosper

There’s been a bit of inquiry in the Shoutbox as to what K2 and Billabong rider, Robbie Walker, is up to at the moment – our good friend Linc at K2 decided to shoot a few Q’s to Robbie and catch you all up. Click below the cut for the interview…

7 quick questions with Robbie Walker.

Hey Robbie, plenty of crew in Aus have been wondering what is going on with you this season, most know you are filming with the People crew, can you tell us a little about that?  Who is on the crew with you, who are the guys behind the film?
Filming with People this year is awesome, they are such a big professional crew, hitting rails with Seth Huot and riding in the back country with Shawn McKay has been so great, these guys are all so good at filming they really know how to get the job done and have fun at the same time.

So this is your 2nd season filming with one of the big international film companies, how is People different to These Days?
These days we were all rookies apart form Chad, so we were all learning together, this year I am going out with real professionals that have been filming for years and years, so it being my second year shows.

Last year you did pretty well in a couple of competitions, any to speak of this year?
Would love to have done a few this year, but all the ones I did last year were canceled and replaced by Dew tour which I didn’t get into. Its been good to focus on the video part, and next year I will make sure my sponsors have me lined up for a few contests.

So who are your current sponsors? Anyone new?
New on Von Zipper, which is really nice, the goggles are amazing and some really cool riders on the team. Dakine, their back-country gear is so good. Also my great sponsors for the past years, K2, Billabong and Ballistyx.

What product have you been riding from K2?  Any new tech?
I love the Turbo dream, at first I was a little unsure if I wanted to rock rocker but once I rode it I was hooked, I have been riding the 61 and it is so good in the back-country it is making landing a lot easier, it is also great in the park… I love that board.

Any new tricks in the bag you want to let us know about?  Transworld reported you had switch b/side 12’s down?
Yeah spinning a little more than usual, couple other new ones but will make you wait to see the video part.

Any other news you want to let us all know about?
No, just that I am home soon and can’t wait to hang in Aus with all you Aussies, love you guys.
