There was little fanfare or celebration as it was two days before Christmas and only one half of the world had snow. The 23rd of December was world snowboarding day. I hope you where lucky enough to go riding or at least got to flip through a snowboarding magazine to celebrate. Yet again snowboarding is biting skateboarding with a go ride day…… but who cares as long as we get to shred. Here are some pictures form our world snowboarding day.

So you get your board out ready for the season, before you wax it, before you mount the bindings and even before you give the shop guy the cash for the board you are thinking of the sticker job you are going to do. It is a snowboarding tradition to customize your board, sure it is possible to get a customized board graphic now days but this low cost art form of making your board your own will never die.
The sticker job is a way for you to express your creative side while shouting out your friends, favorite brands, what hill you ride, plus anything else you want people to know about. Stickers also equal $$$$ for pro riders as with out that logo in the shot or on the podium they don’t get paid. Sticker art has even gone past stickers now to include, spray paint, marker pens and what ever else will stand the abuse of a season of snow, wind and ice.
So if your season has already kicked off or you have a while to wait till the snow falls it is never to late to plan your sticker job.
Two sticker masters are Danny Davis and Mikkel Bang, here they are applying their art a couple of years ago when they where in OZ for the Open.

This is what runs through my head when I land on my bum so hard that I am not sure if I have A. shit my pants. B. torn myself a new hole C. will I ever sit down again or D.all of the above. There is nothing worse than that feeling especially snowboarding when it all goes wrong and the surging pain that runs through your body makes you wish that you could go back in time.
We have all experienced this sensation so as you look at this picture spare a thought for my buddy Ralph as it was taken 3 days after he landed bum first on a rock and thought “I didn’t did I?”

Here is a updated picture…..this is after 13hours of flying

So I am the latest to join the new army of POP bloggers, I am not sure how this happened as if you saw my blog you would know that my mind is a strange world.
But POP has given me the opportunity to do good and that is what I will hopefully do. So whenever I come across something of interest I am going to pass it on to you all. Most of the time it will be snowboard related, but who knows what might pop up (no pun intended).
Opening weekend of the season is rad, sure the snow might not be the best, the lift lines are long and you realize your new boots need a bit of work. But who cares all that waiting for snow to fall is finally over, you get to ride. Plus you can check out all the latest gear that people have spent their hard earned dollars on, while admiring the crew who are managing to get one more season out of theirs.
Here are some photos from opening weekends at Whistler and Grouse Mountains.
