Our mate Kyneee from the Forums, has alerted me to the fact that there was an avalanche over the weekend at Blue Lake that claimed a life. The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that a 22 year old man has died after trying to ski a cornice. There were apparently 2 other deaths in the Snowy Mountains over the weekend. All sadness aside, I think its epic that we have enough snow to even cause an avalanche. Apart from a Mt Buller legend that Tom Boulder was caught in an avalanche and survived, I have not heard of another case. Just remember people, be safe out there.

Well it’s taken long enough, but issue 10 is done. Shit be happening! Oh and how does two Robbie Walker covers sound?! I figured it’s his year, we’re premiering ‘These Days’ in September (dates and information coming soon) and I couldn’t decide which photo I liked better… So two covers it is! Wait, did I mention it comes with a ‘Two Weeks In…’ DVD featuring an hour long Adventure edit, the Action edit and never seen before bonus features including an Alex Kutaysov part! Oh yeah, this is the big one. I’ll post a list of all the interviews just as soon as I get some sleep.

This is definitely one for the skateboard geeks out there. Whilst doing my usual perusing of the internet, I stumbled upon one of the most badass eBay auctions I have ever seen. Unfortunately the auction has long since finished, but Shitzkrieg was selling every single issue of Big Brother, nearly all the trimmings, plus an absolute grip of Blunt, Thrasher, and Transworld Skateboarding magazines. I can’t believe that the auction finished without a winning bidder. I can’t imagine what shipping to Australia would be for 200 magazines, but if it returns, I might be very poor, very soon.

Well, I guess it’s sort of a date. The Age is offering one lucky entrant (not gender specific) the chance to hang out with Dan ‘Dreamboat’ Himbrechts at Perisher Blue on the 5-7th of September. This coincides with the end of the Burton Australian Open, so guaranteed that you will get sneak peeks at the magic he has been making this winter. Currently Dan is in New Zealand hanging out of helicopters, then he will be at Stylewars, then Boost, then the Open. Can’t imagine much better than sorting through terabytes of photos over a shiraz with this cultured gentleman. You have to be in it to win it.

We just got 100 members who’ve joined the Pop Forums! And to celebrate, we’re giving away tickets to the new Travis Rice film, Thats It, Thats All. The premieres are oddly excluding the real fans (you) so we scammed a few extras for ourselves and we’re giving them away - just head over to this thread here and drop us a note to say why you deserve the tickets… good luck! We’ll PM the winners in the next few days.

The hard working folk over at Cliche never stop thinking of amazing ideas with their videos. This time they have got a bunch of the most well known and respected skate film makers, and got them to remix a riders part using footage from all of their previous parts. The end result = Awesomeness! I think its time to start paying respect to the French…

Ashbury Smokestack

Ashbury, who have been making moves as of late, just announced that their sunglasses range will be hitting Australian stores in the next few weeks. Included in this fine post is a few pictures of some styles that will cover your gross eyeballs this spring (if it ever stops snowing) and into summer. If you’re anything like Jan Snarski who parties hard, they might also be quite handy the morning after. Be at your shop with an open wallet soon. More pictures after the cut.

Early warning, but Stylewars is back on at Falls Creek starting from the 24th of August. The warning is not so much for you guys, but for the groomers that are going to have to back up that 150ft monster that got so much airplay last year. This is a bit of a worry because in the press release, they claim to have enough snow to build 3 of them. Some of the confirmed names include Travis Rice, Mikkel Bang, Torstein Horgmo, and Chas Guldemond. I have a feeling it’s going to be pretty serious.
