Because it rained across Victoria all weekend I wasn’t able to go skating for Go Skateboarding Day. It made me think, what would Tony Hawk do in circumstances such as this..? Well, I found just the thing. He’d ‘pimp’ out a Jeep Wrangler of course! If you’re into the Man Wrangler and orange mocha frappacinos then you’re in luck. T.H is selling it on eBay to raise money for his foundation… Did someone forget to tell Tony that driving a 4WD nowadays is kinda awkward seeing as everyone’s gone green?

Just a friendly reminder that today (maybe tomorrow if you don’t live where I do), June 21st is Go Skateboarding Day. Nothing says friendly like a fully grown man roughing up a thirteen year old girl for skateboarding on a day dedicated to skateboarding. Hopefully today goes off without incident. Check out the website for an event near you, if not just go for a skate and get inspired.

If you all nerd out on Spike Jonze like we do at Pop, then you would be stoked to see him skating round like this. But if he has time to go skating does that mean he has finished ‘Where the wild things are” hmmm.

Girl Skateboards has just recently uploaded a fresh little film covering the shenanigans of the most recent Australian Tour. As you would expect from the crew at Girl, It’s very high quality, and chock full of HD goodness. Unfortunately I am not completely geeked out on this stuff yet, I’m still running my gear at 3 or 4 quads per channel, but at least it’s Hi-Fi. Watch the film and if you want to know more about hot HD action, head over to the forums to get your geek on.

This is bad news for skateboarding and a lot of rad brands in Australia. The guys over on the Skateboard.com.au forums are reporting that Kwala is closing down. Kwala handles brands like Krooked, Anti Hero, Thunder, Osiris, Hubba, Venture and more. There is no official reason given for the closure at this point.

Well, no… but he sure is up there. Probably in the top 25 according to this online article from Men’s Fitness. Ryan just loves skating with his shirt off and getting jacked (not entirely sure what that means, could be this). Good for him. I think i prefer my skateboarders to be quietly spoken about their impeccable health regimes. I’m sure he has chalked up a nice hefty bank account with all his sponsors and his television show, but either Ryan and/or his management team are making some douchey career decisions. Keep an eye out for his upcoming interview here.

The guys and girls over at Volcom have had this interesting contest running for a while. Now this is by no means new news, but their Youtube page has had a steady stream of entrants and its getting mighty close. For $10,000 I’m kind of surprised that no one has the title just yet, it must obviously be a lot harder than the other crappy snow/skate/surf cross-overs that are around. Official details are on the Volcom blog here, so get down the beach and start flipping.
