GET READY FOR THE 2010 RIP CURL GIRLS GO SURFING DAY

In just under two weeks time, the Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day presented by Virgin Blue will kick off around Australia at over 60 beaches.

On the weekend of November 27-28, girls from around the country will hit the water either for their first taste at surfing or to gain a few additional tips from qualified Surfing Australia instructors.

The Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day is the world’s leading all female learn-to-surf program that encourages non-surfers and beginners of all ages to get out in the water with their friends to enjoy the rush that only surfing gives you.

This strong connection with a healthy outdoor activity forms the basis of a new partnership with The Butterfly Foundation, Australia’s largest not-for-profit, community organisation celebrating positive body image.

Four-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore is an enthusiastic Girls Go Surfing Day ambassador and recognises the benefits that surfing provides for the fitness and well being to girls of all ages.

“Rip Curl’s Girls Go Surfing Day is a really positive program, it’s important for raising awareness of female surfing and getting girls in the water! It’s also a good chance for you to have a fun day at the beach with your mates and to hit the surf in a safe environment!” said Gilmore.

Now in its 21st year of operation the national surfing program is a huge weekend on the surfing calendar. Run Nationally through the Surfing Australia Surf School ensures all participants take part in a professional lesson in a safe and enjoyable environment.
