It’s now only 7 days until the 50th Rip Curl Pro gets underway at Bells Beach.
I went by yesterday to have a look at how things were shaping up, and the place is looking ready for the best of the surfing world to arrive. Huge marquees, parking ques and grandstands lined the famous cliffs once again and back in town, there is an unmissable buzz as everyone prepares for the biggest event of their year.
Prices are pretty affordable with an adult pass setting you back $8, concession $5, Kids under 16 are free, and parking just $2. If you’re still wondering what you’re going to do over Easter, come down.
There was some big (albeit rough) swell following the crazy rainy weather we’ve had for the past few days, and there were a few locals out grabbing some last waves before the pro-show comes to town. Here’s to hoping the swell persists.
The 2011 website is now live, and they’ve put together this video looking at 50 years of Bells.
