PRESS RELEASE

DC WELCOMES MITCH COLEBORN TO ITS SURF TEAM

July 12, 2011 – HUNTINGTON, CA – DC is proud to announce that it has signed pro surfer Mitch Coleborn to its Surf Team. Recognized as one of the most progressive surfers of his generation, Mitch joins pro surfers Craig Anderson, Ry Craike, Clay Marzo, Marc Lacomare, Mark Healey, Reef McIntosh and Dillion Perillo. Check out Mitch’s welcome video now live at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqcnhTe_r7I.

“Mitch has a rare mix of power and innovative surfing,” said Micah Byrne, DC’s Surf Team Marketing Manager.  “We’re really excited to have him as apart of the DC team and to see what’s in store for his future.”

The 24 year-old Australian native started surfing at the age of 10 in Maroochydore on Australia’s Sunshine Coast. He burst into the international surf scene in 2007 after winning back-to-back events and taking the 2007 Australasian Junior Ratings title. You may also recognize Mitch for his notable part in the most forward thinking surf movie to date, 2009’s Modern Collective.

“I am stoked to be a part of the DC family,” said Mitch.  “DC has a history of athletes that push the limits.  I am proud to be part of the brand and to help keep up that tradition.”

Currently Mitch can be found traveling the world racking up WQS points towards qualification for the ASPWorld Tour.  Just last month Mitch took second at the WQS competition in Mazatlan, Mexico.  Look for Mitch’s newest film part in the highly anticipated Kai Neville film, Lost Atlas, in August 2011.
