Street League Pro Open 2014

Last weekend saw the Street League Pro Open go down at Nike SB’s Sixth and Mills park in Los Angeles. There were 16 skaters competing for a spot on the rest of the tour and then competing against the current pros who were all after a wild card through to the finals in New Jersey.

Some big names got through on day one including Felipe Gustavo, Davis Torgerson, Forrest Edwards and Jordan Hoffart, plus a few crew that are new (to me anyway). Matt Berger was the top finisher through to the semis where the pros joined in the action.

On day two against the experienced pro roster, most with more then two seasons of Street League behind them, the new blood started well with Matt Berger again taking top spot. But he was the only one to get that far. In the finals it was a battle between Nyjah Huston, Ishod Wair, Paul Rodriguez and Shane O’Neill who finished within 3.5 points of each other. Ishod was winning for most of the finals until Huston stomped a backside 360 kickflip lipslide (9.6 points) and a nollie cab lipslide in the Control Section.

Aside from the wildcard through to the finals, there was a US$20K cheque for his efforts. See the finishing scores from the quals, semis and finals below. There’s a photo gallery above and a highlight clip from the day below.
